THE Royal Winchester Golf Club is set to host a special fundraiser for Catholic international aid agency CAFOD.

Now in its third year, the event is to be held on Tuesday (May 20), drawing in golfers from across Hampshire and Dorset.

Competition organiser, Roger Lillie said: “CAFOD is the official international aid agency of the Catholic church in England and Wales and we’re proud to support such a great event. We’re all here to do what we can to support their work and have a great day in the process.”

Prizes will be awarded for best three of four cards for teams and also best individual scores. In addition there will be “longest drive” and “nearest the pin” competitions as well as a par 3 challenge.

There will be a carvery dinner in the club restaurant after the match. The entry fee, including the meal, is £65 per person.

Lynda Mussell, CAFOD diocesan manager, said: “We’d like to thank all the players, sponsors, volunteers and the club itself for hosting such a great event. None of our work would be possible without our loyal and dedicated supporters and the outstanding work of our partners overseas who are working directly with the world’s poorest communities.”
