WINCHESTER students are staging a one-off charity fun day at the cathedral close on Monday. (MAY5)

The ‘Street Arts’ programme from the University is staging the event, called Kick Arts from 11am to 3.30pm, writes Luke Addison.

The event aims to raise money for Naomi House Children's Hospice based at Sutton Scotney.

There will be: yoga workshops, the Winchester Spirits (Cheerleading Society), live music, break dancing, face painting and circus workshops.

It stems from a link-up between the Rotaract Club of the university and the Streets Arts programme to help students engage with the local community.

Neil Gliddon, a student, said: “The main idea behind the festival is a celebration of the arts. However, we also want to bring together a community.”

The event is free.
