A WINCHESTER woman died of “blunt force chest injuries” in a collision with a car on the Isle of Man, an inquest was told.

Gwen Valentine, 62, of Wavell Way, Stanmore, was visiting her son when the crash happened on the Tholt-y-Will Road on April 26.

Isle of Man coroner John Needham noted the cause of death before adjourning proceedings to a date to be fixed.

Mr Needham said: “I am only opening the inquest today due to ongoing criminal enquiries.”

A 30-year-old local man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Mrs Valentine who worked at IBM until retiring last month was due to marry next month.
