STANDING at the heart of the city for 100 years, the Theatre Royal Winchester has now received a cheque for over £10,000 to continue its work.

The money, which was raised by this year’s Fulflood Charity Ball on April 5, totalled £10,212.17 and is in aid of the theatre itself, which heavily relies on fundraising.

Mark Courtice, Chief Executive at the Theatre Royal Winchester, accepted the cheque from chairman of the Fulflood Ball committee, Catherine Skinner. The theatre runs various groups and activities, including youth theatre, dance and creative workshops, promoting local artists and providing access to theatre for disabled and disadvantaged groups.

Mr Courtice said: “We are really grateful to the Fulflood ball committee who launched our season of parties to celebrate 100 years with a fantastic event full of good humour, fun, style and pizzazz. It is an incredibly impressive amount.”
