VILLAGERS near Winchester were having fun and also making their community a safer place.
A fayre was held in South Wonston on Saturday with the aim of raising £1,800 to buy a heart defibrillator for the village.
The recreation ground was crowded over the afternoon as the sun came out.
One of the organisers Clare Knock said; “It’s gone very, very well and it has been well-supported. It is a lovely day and we have all had a good time.”
The event was opened by the new mayor Cllr Eileen Berry.
Among the attractions of the Alice in Wonderland-themed event was a dog show, craft competitions, lots of football on the eve of the England-Italy match, and hula hooping.
The New Forest Meddlars Morris Dancing side, a mixed group formed in 1990, showed off their moves.
