HAMPSHIRE wind Farm developers have suffered a second blow in a week with rejection of a scheme north of Winchester.
TCI Renewables planned six 130-metre-high turbines in Woodmancott Down, near Popham.
But the planning committee at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council last night voted eight to four to reject the plan.
TCI Renewables are expected to appeal.
Jonathan Moseley, of campaign group SOS Hampshire Downs, said today: “This is a victory for our priceless rolling Hampshire downland, local people and common sense. Our downlands are not renewable.”
The rejection comes after a larger wind farm at Bullington Cross, proposed by EDF, was defeated by Basingstoke, Winchester and Test Valley councils.
