TWO Winchester schoolchildren have been crowned winners of a county-wide logo competition.

Thomas Alexander, 11, and Maddy Rose Forster, ten, both of Owslebury Primary School, were picked for their logo design for Healthwatch Hampshire, a new health and social care organisation that supports people to get the best out their local health services.

The winning school was awarded a £200 prize, and the runners up, The Crescent Primary in Eastleigh and Crofton Hammond Infants in Stubbington, £50 each.

The children also passed on their thoughts about health services in Hampshire, from wait times to receptionists who smile.

Natalie White, Year 5 and 6 teacher at Owslebury, said: "The children have enjoyed the work they have completed with Healthwatch. They are really pleased that their views about the health service will be listened to. We enjoyed designing the logos to represent Hampshire Healthwatch and were over the moon to hear that two of our pupils had been chosen as the winners. We hope to do more work with the team in the future."

Healthwatch Hampshire is partnered with the Citizens Advice Bureau, Help & Care and Community Action Hampshire, and focuses on working with children, young people and their families to develop a network of schools to work alongside.
