RESIDENTS have another chance to have their say over how Alresford will develop over the next few years.

The town council has arranged a public meeting at Perins School on Friday July 18.

The meeting will allow to have their say on alternative development plans to the previously council-endorsed proposals for farmland off Sun Lane, with 300 homes, relocated industry from the Dean, Gypsy pitch, cemetery and access off the A31 town bypass.

A packed public meeting, attended by around 500 people in May, roundly criticised the plans and the council agreed to think again.

The new ideas would see development spread across the town, with sites off The Avenue and New Farm Road in the spotlight.

An action group has been set up by residents in Nursery Road who are concerned that developing off Sun Lane will mean much greater traffic past their homes.

An online petition against road access through Sun Lane and Tichborne Down via the proposed A31 Junction had by this afternoon garnered 238 signatures.
