A WINCHESTER local history society is returning to a historic site to resume an excavation.
WARG will restart dig at St. Elizabeth College from August 2-16 for two weeks, courtesy of Winchester College headmaster, Dr Ralph Townsend.
An open day will be held on Sunday August 10.
The society excavated the site in 2011 and 2012.
The building is thought to be a chantry chapel built in the early 14th century which later became part of Winchester College until the Dissolution in the 1530s and its demolition.
