A WOMAN from Winchester is being investigated by police after church windows were smashed with a sledgehammer.
Police were called to the Winchester Christian Science Church, on Tower Street, at 9.52pm on Tuesday (August 5), following reports of criminal damage.
Three windows and a door of the church were smashed as were a Kia Ceed and Ford Transit van parked nearby.
The 37-year-old was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital for injuries to her hands and arms after police followed her to Romsey Road.
Though she has not been formally arrested a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said they intend to follow up their enquiries.
He said: “A weapon was recovered that appears to be some kind of hammer and we are continuing to investigate.”
