TWO members of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force have been awarded at a special ceremony at the Winchester Guildhall.

Captain Anthony Shallow and Cadet Company Sergeant Major Jessica Cookson, both of Zulu company, were presented with awards by the new Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson.

Comp Sgt Maj Jessica Cookson, a Peter Symonds College student, was appointed as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet which includes a distinctive badge worn to denote her role. She will now assist the Lord Lieutenant, often on royal visits, to act as an ambassador for their organisation.

She said: “‘I am very proud to have been appointed as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet. I am looking forward to this new appointment.”

Capt Shallow, from Andover, was recognised for his dedication, hard work and commitment to the Cadet Force and was awarded the Meritorious Award which is presented to members of both the reserves and the cadet force.
