POLICE are investigating after items and cash valued at £50,000 were taken from four Alresford businesses in one night.

Thieves made off with two Mercedes vans, a classic BSA 1970s motorbike, aquatic equipment, tools and cash from businesses at Prospect Commercial Park.

It happened overnight on October 30.

Gary Windslade, sales and marketing manager for Itchen Valley Brewery, said one of their vans was stolen.

“It’s a busy time of year for a brewery, we are gearing up for Christmas and being a van down is an inconvenience,” he said.

“We have got to hire a van which is an extra cost to the business. We don’t want to dwell on it but it has happened.”

A spokesman for electricians Butler and King said materials, tools, and cash were taken after criminals broke through the security gate and their front door.

They said: “I think we got off quite lightly because we didn’t have any vehicles stolen, but it’s just the aftermath of tidying up and insurance claims. We have been able to carry on business as usual.”

FTS Aquatics was also targeted, as well as shop fitting company Pop Modular.

A police spokesperson said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we are yet to identify suspects or make arrests.”
