POLICE are appealing for information after construction equipment was stolen from a partially-built block of flats in Winchester.

The offenders entered the site in Andover Road by climbing over a fence and taken a number of drills, batteries and an angle grinder.

Police say it appears that the grinder was used in an attempt to cut through the security lock on a container, but was unsuccessful, and then to cut a hole in the container door.

Copper piping was stolen from inside.

It is believed to have happened between 2pm on Saturday, January 24, and 7am on Monday, January 26.

The equipment is thought to have been passed through or over a fence into a vehicle.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or to be anonymous the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
