A NATIONAL chain of French restaurants has opened a Winchester branch following a £1 million refurbishment.

The former site of Moss Bros in Upper High Street has undergone around 12 weeks’ of renovation works ready for the newest Côte Brasserie.

The popular French-styled 130-seat restaurant already has some 60 sites across the UK.

Joint managing director Harald Samuelsson said: “Winchester is a city steeped in history and we feel very proud to say that we have a restaurant her The local culture and the architecture attract many people and we’re looking forward to offering our friendly style and all day dining to both tourists and locals alike.

“It’s great for us to be joining an already thriving eating out scene but, at the same time, we’re able to offer something different in terms of value and service.”

Managers have signed a 20-year lease for the property which cost approximately £1 million to revamp to the brasserie’s signature look.

CantorMasters director Neil Masters was commissioned to help develop the interior having worked at other Côte locations.

He has also helped develop restaurants such as Pho, Las Iguanas, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Jamie Oliver’s Cafe and Cookery School.
