KEITH Redbourn, editor of the Hampshire Chronicle, has left the paper after 10 years at the helm.
Both editor roles at the Chronicle and sister title the Romsey Advertiser have been made redundant due to an editorial restructure and the introduction of a new IT system across Newsquest Hampshire, which also publishes the Southern Daily Echo, Basingstoke Gazette and Andover Advertiser.
The four weeklies will now be managed at a central editorial hub at the Southampton office of the Daily Echo under a single editor-in-chief.
Mr Redbourn, pictured, who led the Chronicle to the Weekly Newspaper of the Year award in 2007, said: “I’ve been immensely proud to edit the Chronicle, and have had the privilege of working with many talented journalists, and meeting and working with businesses and groups across the city and beyond.
The media industry has faced many challenges in recent years, but the Chronicle remains one of best performing newspapers in Newsquest’s UK stable, and is well-placed to meet the future needs of its readers and advertisers both in print and digitally.”
Mr Redbourn listed the successful switch from broadsheet to compact, the Gardens for Schools initiative and the Christmas Toy Appeal among the highlights of his time in Winchester.
