WINCHESTER residents raised over £4,000 this year for a charity which helps wounded soldiers.

Help for Heroes saw £4,085 donated following their bake sale which aims to help people injured during conflicts abroad.

Co-ordinator Sarah Ferguson said: “The High Street was not as busy as last year but we still raised a wonderful amount of £4,085. This will provide vital support for wounded injured, wounded and sick Service Personnel. A huge thank you goes to all those who baked without who we would not have a sale.

“There were also many cafes in Alresford and Winchester who donated cakes and businesses who donated raffle prizes. Hopefully everyone enjoyed their purchases and that they come back for more next year.”
