YOUNGSTERS and their parents are preparing their cars for a fiercely competitive annual race in Winchester.
Winchester District Scouts Active Support Unit is putting on the Pinewood Derby, which last year saw more than 130 racers battle it out for first prize.
Contestants are required to build their cars and take them to an inspection prior to the event on Sunday May 10.
Racing starts at 1pm and runs until 4pm. There are categories for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders. Siblings, aged under 18, of members can also take part for the first time.
The Pinewood Derby is at Prince’s Mead School in Kings Worthy. For more information email michael.barker17@btopenworld.com.
