Roads were shut and commuters hit as Storm Jonas swept across Hampshire.

A severe weather warning was issued for the county as the storm - which brought snow chaos in America - hit the south coast.

Flooding has closed the Balmer Lawn Road in the New Forest while standing water in roads all over the country is causing problems for drivers.

Police have warned of flooding under the railway bridge at Sway Road and at Watersplash on Brookley Road.

A statement said: "Flooding. Large amounts of flood water on Burley road, into Brockenhurst. If it looks too deep then it probably is, don't risk it."

Hampshire Fire and Rescue were also called to rescue a car trapped in flood water at Latchmoor, in Sway Road, Brockenhurst.

A tree has also come down at Chandler's Ford railway station stopping trains from travelling through.

The line was reopened by 7.30am but passengers were experiencing delays.

The strong winds have also forced the cancellation of Solent ferries.

Hovertravel is also warning of delays.
