THE OWNERS of a house near Winchester are counting the cost of a fire after a blaze started in the roof.
Firefighters from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the scene at Treetops on Alresford Road between Winchester and Alresford after the fire began at about 7.50am on Sunday morning.
Three crews – two from Winchester and a third from Eastleigh – were sent to the scene and spent more than an hour putting out the fire.
Firefighters had to use six breathing apparatus and two hose reels plus one jet to put out the fire in a semi-detached house.
The fire was contained to the roof space and no one was injured or evacuated.
