ANOTHER shop in the Silver Hill area of Winchester will be closing down.

Fred Bear, which used to be called Winchester Indoor Market, will be locking up shop on August 1.

It comes after the nearby Holmes and Co also shut at the end of March after its owners, PM and PP Limited, chose not to renew its lease.

The store became Fred Bear in February as part of a redesign which was called for by market traders and because trade was slow, however the decision has been taken to close it down now.

Manager of Fred Bear, John Saunders said he was sad to be leaving but the closure opens up a new chapter for him.

The 59-year-old from Shedfield expressed his gratitude to loyal customers who have used the store.

Mr Saunders said: "I enjoyed the fact Winchester City Council let us have the location and we have met some wonderful people I would like to thank the council and the customers alike for the experience."

It is understood 10 market traders sold from the store.

The store is currently holding a closing down sale, which runs until August 1.
