ALRESFORD Town Council is consulting the public over potential uses for part of the land set to be developed off Sun Lane.
If it goes ahead the council will receive 15 hectares as public open space.
The Town Council is adamant this space will remain a benefit and not become a drain on resources; it should not leave the town with expensive bills and ‘white elephant’ projects to manage.
An online questionnaire, https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LLWMN78 has so far attracted 129 responses.
A running track, 40 per cent support, 40 per cent against; amenity grassland, 80/12; orchard, 60/21; bike trail, 42/33; parking 33/47; a dog-free zone, 48/36; a wild play area for children, 77/12; allotments, 50/27; a community building for Scouts and other groups, 55/29; nature reserve of chalk grassland, 82/9; burial ground as St John's is due to be full in eight years, 45/31.
The consultation ends at the end of this month.
