ALRESFORD TV presenter Alastair Stewart will be answering some questions in a fund-raising event later this month.

Mr Stewart joined Southern TV as a reporter in 1976, before moving to ITN in 1980 as industrial correspondent, then as presenter of the main bulletins.

He reported live from the fall of the Berlin Wall, spent a year as ITN’s Washington Correspondent, covered the Gulf War from Saudi Arabia, becoming the first British TV reporter to broadcast live from the liberated Kuwait City.

Mr Stewart, who lives in Bramdean, has provided live commentaries for state visits, Royal weddings, elections, and moderated the first Leader's debate in the 2010 General Election between Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg.

He will reveal the stories behind these events in conversation with fellow-broadcaster John Miller in Bishop’s Sutton Village Hall on Friday, September 30 at 7pm.

Proceeds will go to the village church vestry fund.

Tickets £10 from: Lynette Joly on 01962 733540 or Angela Milligan on 01962 732241.
