ARCHITECTS are about to launch a series of meetings to consult the public over the future of the area of Winchester where the city council wants to build a new leisure centre.

Five public ‘drop in’ sessions will take place between June 23-29.

The architects will be available in the meeting room and café at the Sports Stadium, Bar End, SO23 9SQ, between:

l Friday June 23, 4-6pm;

l Saturday June 24, 10am-Noon and 2-4pm;

l Thursday June 29, 3-5pm.

There is an additional ‘drop-in’ opportunity at the Winchester Guildhall on Friday June 23, 11am-2pm.

Cllr Lisa Griffiths, council portfolio holder for sports & physical activity, said: “The accent has very much been on public engagement throughout this project. In this phase of consultation, architects from Stride Treglown and LA architects are looking at the broader park area that will house the leisure centre and are keen to hear the aspirations of residents, future users and businesses in the location. The sessions will help build a picture of how different groups see the future of the whole site and inform the development of an Urban Design Framework.”

Members of the public who are unable to attend but wish to comment on the development are encouraged to email consultation@stridetreglown.com
