BOSSES at an under-threat mill in the heart of Winchester are confident that it will reach its fundraising target to keep it open.
The future of Winchester City Mill which has stood since Saxon times, is in jeopardy because of flood damage.
Since the National Trust launched an appeal to raise £125,000 in February more than £50,000 has been donated.
Property manager Ric Weeks said: “A big thank you is due to all the staff and volunteers at the property who are doing all they can to support the appeal. We are very hopeful of reaching our target of £125,000 by early autumn.
“The mill clearly means a lot to people, both locally and further afield, and we have had some incredibly generous individual donations.
"As well as this, local companies and community organisations have not only donated but have held fantastic events to support the appeal, which has been hugely appreciated.”
