MORE than £8000 was raised for a Winchester-based charity which supports young people.
The former mayor of Winchester, councillor Jane Rutter had chosen Street Reach as one of her chosen charities.
Overall a total of £8,309 was raised for the charity.
Ben Martin, Project Manager of Street Reach said: "We are really delighted by the amount that has been raised. It’s great that this can be put to good use to make a difference to the lives and opportunities of disadvantaged young people across the Winchester district.
"We have enjoyed working with the Mayor immensely and have admired her enthusiasm and commitment to ourselves and the other voluntary organisations that she has supported.
"The young people who access our services can experience a variety of personal and social challenges including around accessibility and inclusion as well as around communication and social interaction.
"Thanks to this donation we will be able to strengthen our services and provide targeted support to some of the hardest to reach young people in the area."
