AN annual street party established nearly ten years ago is still going strong.
The eighth annual Old Highcliffe street party took place on August Bank Holiday Sunday.
The event remembered both Dennis Kimber, of Cathedral View, whose vision it was to hold a street party bringing friends, neighbours and family together and Tom Church (Tickety-boo), a well-known local character of the community and The Black Boy.
The weather was much kinder this year and well over 100 people enjoyed BBQs, childrens’ games, a football table, a quiz and music, all located in Cathedral View, which was decorated with colourful bunting and closed to traffic for the event.
The day ended with the traditional gathering, with glasses raised in memory, around two fire-pits which provided more heat than was necessary on a summer evening.
The gathering lasted until well into the early hours of the morning.
