MORE than 160 schoolchildren will be granted a royal audience next week at a special charity concert in Winchester.
Pupils from The Pilgrims School and Kings Secondary School choirs will perform in front of Sophie, Countess of Wessex at the cathedral on December 1 for ‘Carols by Candlelight’.
They will be joined by students from from eight county primary schools and Winchester Cathedral choristers, performing a range of Christmas songs.
The concert is in aid of ChildLine and its president Esther Rantzen, who will be attending, said: “This will be a fantastic evening and a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of the children to perform in the presence of royalty. We are extremely grateful to the Countess of Wessex for her continued support.”
The Countess of Wessex, a patron of ChildLine, will also give a reading at the concert, which is backed by Hampshire estate agents Penyards.
