ANOTHER Winchester student is set to do his college proud by carrying the Olympic Torch this summer.

Adam Taylor, 18, is the second Peter Symonds College student to be given the once-in-a-lifetime honour.

Adam, of Tees Farm Road, Colden Common, has been in foster care since he was 10 and was nominated by his social worker for excelling in his studies and sport.

He said: “My social worker nominated me because I managed to land on my feet and kept on working and getting good grades and kept up my sport. I have been with my foster family since 2005 and they are really pleased for me, they are over the moon.

Adam, who plays for Winchester Rugby Club, is carrying the torch through Christchurch on Saturday, July 14.

He added: “I’m looking forward to it. I would rather it be in front of my family and friends in Winchester but it’s the Olympic Torch and I would carry it anywhere!”
