WINCHESTER Theatre Royal is looking for talented children to take part in this year’s winter pantomime.

The theatre is inviting boys aged eight-11 and girls aged 12-17 to audition for Aladdin, the classic tale of the genie of the lamp.

Boys will audition to be in one of three acting teams while girls will audition for one of three dance teams.

Ryan Jones, child cast manager at the theatre, said: “In past years we have had a very good response to our child cast auditions and this year we are particularly excited about Aladdin as there is an opportunity for us to venture into musical theatre choreography with the dance cast.

“For the acting cast we are looking for young people with an enthusiastic and professional attitude who can create entertaining characters, and dancers must be able to show personality and confidence in their dance. All applicants must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances.”

The auditions take place on May 13 at the theatre in Jewry Street from 10.30am-2pm for the acting cast and from 2.30pm-6pm for the dancers. All applicants must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the audition.

Application forms are available from the theatre box office or via the website theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk but forms must be completed and returned to Mr Jones by May 9.
