WINCHESTER is hoping to capture business from the London Olympic through advertising in the capital.

The city’s Business Improvement District has paid £6,000 for posters at 25 sites on the transport network, including Waterloo, for four weeks, Amy MacCartan, BID marketing manager told the BID committee.

The BID has also bought space for two months on 10 taxis in Basingstoke and five in Salisbury.

The campaign slogans are ‘Come for the history – stay for the treasures’ and ‘Come for the festivals – stay for the culture.’

It was devised by Talk Design and Print, of Magdalen Hill, and impressed BID members at the committee.
