BRANSGORE-based Scott Mitchell’s dream of landing the darts world championship is over after he fell to defeat at the hands of James Wilson at the Lakeside tonight.
Mitchell, who got through to the second round of the BDO World Championship after a thrilling first-round shoot-out win over Basingstoke’s Paul Hogan, was always on the back foot against Wilson, who quickly eased into an early lead.
Mitchell didn’t go down without a fight, the New Forest-based star ruffling Wilson’s feathers before falling to a 4-2 defeat in the best of seven set clash.
Current BDO ranked number two Wilson will now go on to play Alan Norris, who saw off Glen Durrant 4-1 yearlier today, in the quarter-finals.
