ALL Hampshire County pool teams could qualify for the National County finals in Selsey in March.
The top three men’s teams are already through along with the ladies A side, while another men’s team and a ladies team are still waiting to see whether they have qualified as well.
Hampshire’s men’s A, containing Eastleigh’s Mark Benzey and Drew Farminer of Southampton, had to win one out of two matches against East Sussex to qualify. They did this in the first fixture with a 19-17 win. Farminer finished the season top of the individual rankings for the whole of England, a great achievement. He won 30 out of 38 frames, for a 78.94 win percentage.
The men’s B team, containing Eastleigh’s Ben Tanner, needed to win both games against East Sussex to qualify – and did just that.
Hampshire’s men’s C1 team beat Oxfordshire C to also qualify.
The men’s C2 team – containing Southampton quartet Mick Warner, Harry Allen, Lee Bell and Neil Wilkins, Paul Miller (Chandler’s Ford) and Scott Davies (Isle of Wight) – drew with Plymouth C.
They must now wait on the results from other regions to see if they have made it through.
The ladies A team are already through to the finals and the ladies B team are also awaiting results to see if they have made it through.
