Eastleigh returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Farnborough to complete a second win against their Hampshire rivals this season.
The visitors made two changes to the starting line-up from Monday with Michael Green and Reece Connolly coming in against his former club.
Early on a shot from Ben Wright forced a save from Farnborough goalkeeper Kevin Scriven. Wright also hooked a shot narrowly wide. Sykes for the home team pushed the ball forward a bit too far when he had a good chance.
Eastleigh took the lead in the 24th minute when, with Farnborough appealing for offside, Fleetwood broke clear on the right and left BEN WRIGHT with a simple tap in.
Farnborough almost equalised when Sykes set up Phil Page but his effort was well saved by Flitney.
Eastleigh almost made it 2-0 when a penalty was awarded for a foul on Wright but Scriven saved Jai Reason’s spot kick.
Shortly before half-time, Ben Strevens came close for Eastleigh but his effort was narrowly wide. There was not much goal-mouth action in the second half. Early in the half Scriven made a good save and he also made a further save from Michael Green.
Also substitute Yemi Odubade came close with a powerfully struck effort.
Towards the end fellow substitute Craig McAllister came close following a goalmouth scramble.
Farnborough did put some pressure on Eastleigh and they forced several corners, but generally the Eastleigh defence looked solid on their way to three points.
