Fareham have pulled off the Great Escape in England Hockey’s Western Conference.
A 3-2 win over Isca in Exeter ensured they avoid the drop at the expense of neighbours Havant, who are relegated after a 1-0 defeat by newly crowned champions Cardiff & Met.
Fareham led 2-1 at half-time through goals by Alex Boxall and James Seager and, after Isca had levelled, grabbed the winner five minutes from time through Shaun Baker.
Chichester are promoted in Havant’s place.
