5:10pm

Romsey Advertiser:

Eastleigh captain Glen Southam collects the trophy.

5:06pm

The Eastleigh players are being called up one by one to collect their medals.

5:03pm

The presentation is going to take place in the pitch now. The Town players are sticking around to watch.

5:00pm

And the party can begin in earnest. Town gave a good account of themselves today and probably didn't deserve to lose, but congratulations to Eastleigh, who will play in the Conference Premier next season.

OSPREYSAINT says

Well done Eastleigh, 2nd best team in the South!

4:56pm

Eastleigh 2-1 Basingstoke Town

4:54pm

90+4 - Eastleigh 2-1 Basingstoke Town - Liam Enver-Marum

No more than Town deserve for a good display. Nathan Smart gets in down the right side of the area and when Flitney fails to hold his shot, LIAM ENVER-MARUM is on hand to score with the rebound.

4:51pm

There will be at least four minutes of added time.

4:49pm

89 - Eastleigh - Lee Peacock on for Ben Wright

4:48pm

87 - Adams saves at the feet of Odubade and then claims the resulting corner.

4:47pm

That second goal has killed the game. Eastleigh are holding possession and waiting for the final whistle.

Matt1991 says

I never really expected us to get a result from Eastleigh but ill take this chance to congratulate them on a solid season

4:41pm

80 - Eastleigh 2-0 Basingstoke Town - Ben Wright

And the party begins. Good play from right-back Dan Spence, who squares to give BEN WRIGHT an easy finish.

A perimeter fence collapses in the celebrations, but it looks like everyone is okay.

4:40pm

79 - Bignall lets fly with a low shot from distance, but there's not enough power behind it and Flitney makes the save.

4:37pm

76 - Soares feeds Bignall in the area. Not sure he was offside but the flag went up and the goalkeeper saved anyway.

4:35pm

75 - That's a decent shout for a penalty as the ball seemed to strike the arm of Eastleigh defender Will Evans, but the referee waves play on.

4:34pm

73 - Soares does well down the Town left and his ball in finds Dunn eight yards out. He tries to take a touch but gets too much on the ball, which falls into the arms of the goalkeeper.

4:32pm

There are 1,505 people here today. Looks like the vast majority of them will be enjoying a promotion party.

4:27pm

66 - Eastleigh 1-0 Basingstoke Town - Yemi Odubade

That's a lovely finish from YEMI ODUBADE. Wright did well to get the ball to him despite being on the ground and he curled an excelled shot into the corner, first time.

Adams didn't move, but I don't think Wells would have saved it either.

4:27pm

On that double change, Partridge was starting to struggle with the pace of the game, while Enver-Marum is working his way back from injury.

4:25pm

64 - Basingstoke Town - Wes Daly and Liam Enver-Marum on for Matt Partridge and Manny Williams

4:24pm

63 - Adams claims a cross from McAllister.

4:22pm

61 - Williams gets on the end of a ball over the top. He finds Bignall, who tees up Soares. He gets a low shot away from the edge of the area and Flitney is down well to save.

4:18pm

57 - Ben Strevens is up to meet a free-kick into the Town box, but his flicked header is straight at Adams.

4:16pm

55 - Eastleigh - Craig McAllister on for Daniel Wishart

Ex-Town man McAllister joins Wright in attack for the hosts.

4:15pm

54 - That's an important header from Matthews to clear a dangerous centre. Wright fires in a shot from distance, but it's way over.

4:11pm

I've just heard that Wigan have scored again. They now lead Reading 3-0.

4:10pm

49 - McAuley is gifted a shooting chance just outside the Eastleigh area, but he totally mis-hits it and almost strikes the corner flag.

4:09pm

Decent start to the half from Town. The energy of Partridge and Dunn has really lifted them today.

4:06pm

Town get the game back under way. No changes at the break and Eastleigh now have the wind behind them.

4:04pm

The players are making their way out for the second half.

4:03pm

Will Eastleigh take pity on Town in the second half? A draw would be good enough for them remember.

Somehow, I don't think so.

4:00pm

At Wigan, Reading are 2-0 down. Play-off hopes fading fast.

4:00pm

Town are really unlucky to have lost Wells though. It's the last thing they needed today.

Adams has played in goal for Town before, helping them to earn a 1-1 draw at Maidenhead after Simon Moore was sent off a couple of years ago.

It could be a long 45 minutes for him though. I expect the hosts to improve after the break.

3:58pm

That's a really good first 45 minutes for Town, who have outplayed the league leaders.

They have had joy with direct balls forward, looking to exploit the hosts' high defensive line. The fact that they had to change shape says a lot about how well Basingstoke have done.

3:52pm

Eastleigh 0-0 Basingstoke Town

3:49pm

45+3 - The ball breaks to Williams in the Eastleigh area, but he drags his shot wide.

3:49pm

45+2 - Adams spills the ball to concede a corner but does well to punch the resulting ball in away.

3:47pm

There will be at least five minutes of added time, mainly for the injury to Wells.

3:47pm

45 - Partridge gets a low cross in, and Flitney does well to block it at his near post. The league leaders are living dangerously.

3:46pm

44 - Town's best chance yet. Eastleigh allow a long ball to bounce and Bignall is in behind. He lets fly and forces Ross Flitney into a flying save.

3:43pm

42 - Good play from Soares to set up a chance for Bignall, but the flag is up for offside.

3:42pm

41 - Odubade shoots from the edge of the area. Again, straight at Adams.

3:42pm

40 - Wright calls Adams into action for the first time, but it's a pea-roller from the edge of the area. I'm a terrible goalkeeper, but I think I would have kept that out.

3:39pm

37 - Basingstoke Town - Ross Adams on for Louis Wells

Wells is applauded warmly as he is carried off but he's in an awful lot of pain. The gloves have to be taken from his hands and given to Adams, who has the goalkeeper's jersey on.

3:37pm

Wells is clearly in a lot of pain and the stretcher is out for him. Who's going to go in goal?

3:35pm

Doesn't look good for Wells. Looks to be a knee problem and he's still down.

3:34pm

31 - Close again as a low centre is just cut out by Wells. Both he and Odubade have stayed down. Could be bad news as Town have no goalkeeper on the bench.

3:33pm

30 - So close for the hosts. Jai Reason lets fly from distance and Wells is little more than a spectator as the ball crashes against the crossbar.

Wishart should score on the follow-up, but he puts his scissors kick wide from about 10 yards.

3:32pm

29 - Eastleigh have been forced to switch formation, going 4-4-2 to match Town. That has pushed Yemi Odubade into the centre and almost has an immediate impact, only a tight offside decision stopping him having a clear run at goal.

3:29pm

28 - Soares cuts in from the Town left, but lifts his shot well over. Good first half-hour for the visitors.

3:27pm

25 - More good play leads to a shooting chance for McAuley, but his effort is blocked by an Eastleigh defender.

3:25pm

23 - Almost a chance for the hosts but a heavy touch sends the ball back to Wells rather then into a striker's feet.

3:22pm

19 - Another chance for the visitors as a defensive mistake lets Dunn in down the right channel. His ball across the face of goal is just too far in front of Manny Williams.

This is the best Town have started a game for several weeks. Eastleigh look a little nervous, especially at the back.

3:20pm

18 - Good play from Jenkinson to beat two Eastleigh men down the left, but his centre is over the heads of the men in the middle.

3:15pm

13 - Mix-up between Eastleigh goalkeeper Ross Flitney and defender Will Evans lets Nicholas Bignall in, but he rushes his shot from a narrow angle and fluffs it straight to the 'keeper.

3:13pm

Town are having a decent spell. Bit of possession in the Eastleigh half.

3:10pm

9 - McAuley plays Dunn through, but the flag is up. Must have been close.

3:09pm

8 - Shaun McAuley works space for a shot from 30 yards, but it's scuffed and straight at the Eastleigh goalkeeper.

3:07pm

5 - Almost the opening goal for the hosts.

Daniel Wishart beat Jenkinson down the Eastleigh right and cut in before firing off a low shot from the edge of the area that Wells was able to push around the post.

3:04pm

Looks like Dunn is in the centre of the park, with McAuley on the right and Soares on the left.

3:02pm

1 - Nearly an early chance for the hosts. Louis Wells tries to see the ball out for a goal-kick, and succeeds, just. Glen Southam nearly nicked it from him.

3:01pm

Eastleigh get the game under way. Town must have won the toss as they will have the wind behind them in the first half.

2:59pm

You'll be pleased to hear that Town are in all red strips today. A problem with the sponsors logo on their arms meant they had to wear blue tops the other night at Gosport.

2:58pm

Here come the teams, to the Rocky theme. Remember, you can have your say using the comment box below or #bstoketown on Twitter.

2:56pm

The wind is blowing from left to right as I look. Might be a bit of advantage. It's pretty strong.

2:48pm

There's a lot of people here today. Let's hope the big crowd gives the Town players a lift. They have been really struggling of late and it would be nice to speak to a happy Jason Bristow after the game.

The teams have just gone in to make their final preparations.

2:45pm

Ben Wright is just receiving Eastleigh's player of the month award for March.

2:44pm

VIEW FROM THE PRESS BOX

Romsey Advertiser:

2:39pm

I'm expecting Town to revert to a 4-4-2 system, with Matthews in the centre of defence alongside Jay Gasson and Andrew Jenkinson at left-back.

Not sure who, out of Dunn, Louie Soares and Shaun McAuley, will play alongside Partridge in the centre of midfield. I'll let you know when we get under way.

2:37pm

TEAMS

Eastleigh: Flitney, Spence, Green, Strevens, Evans, Todd, Reason, Southam, Odubade, Wright, Wishart. Subs: Peacock, Noice, McAllister, Beckwith, Dillon.

Basingstoke Town: Wells, Smart, Jenkinson, Partridge, Gasson, Matthews, Soares, McAuley, Williams, Bignall, Dunn. Subs: Daly, Enver-Marum, Adams, Ibe, Johnson-Schuster.

2:33pm

TEAM NEWS

There are a couple of changes to the Town side. Partridge, Robbie Matthews and Simon Dunn come in, with the injured Robbie Rice, Adam Green and Ross Adams making way.

Green isn't even on the bench. Nor are Neil Barrett or Jordace Holder-Spooner.

Former Town striker and Basingstoke lad Ben Wright starts in attack for the hosts, with Craig McAllister, another ex-Town striker, on the bench.

2:30pm

Haven't got the teamsheet yet, but Matt Partridge is among the Town players warming up.

The Reading loanee was made unavailable for selection by the club as he awaited sentence for assault. He was handed a suspended sentence and is available again.

Ignoring his off-field problems, he's exactly what Town have been missing in the middle of the park.

2:26pm

The rest of the Town squad has emerged now. Michael Gilkes is putting them through their paces.

2:22pm

The Town players are coming out in dribs and drabs to warm up. The goalkeepers are being put through their paces and Ross Adams and Andrew Jenkinson are kicking a ball about.

In the other half, the whole Eastleigh side has been warming up for about five minutes.

2:19pm

It's a sunny day in south Hampshire, but the wind is decidely chilly. Pitch looks in good shape though. Could suit Town's passing game.

2:18pm

2:16pm

The ground is filling up, but I'm sure a few people got stuck in traffic. Seems everyone's heading to the coast today.

2:15pm

The Eastleigh players have just come out to carry out their warm-up.

2:14pm

Elsewhere this afternoon, Reading are away at Wigan in the Championship. I'll let you know how they get on. Could be a big game in the play-off reckoning.

2:13pm

Elsewhere this afternoon, Reading are away at Wigan in the Championship. I'll let you know how they get on. Could be a big game in the promotion shake-up.

2:11pm

From a Town safety point of view, they have 47 points, which is likely to be enough to keep them up.

However, they need to get to 51 to be sure. Win today and they would be one short of that.

2:09pm

It could be a big day in south Hampshire. Not so much for Town, though they could take a big step towards mathematical safety today, but for Eastleigh, who need just one point to clinch the title and promotion.

It's simple. Avoid defeat today and they will be up. A big crowd is expected but Town will be hoping to spoil the party.

1:59pm

Good afternoon and welcome to live text coverage of this afternoon's match between Eastleigh and Basingstoke Town at the Silverlake Stadium.
