David Dunn has joined New Milton RFC as Director of Rugby. The former England Schools coach has had a year out of the game after spending 14 years as Director of Rugby at National 2 South side Bournemouth RFC. Dunn spent 14 years at Bournemouth, helping them win three promotions, culminating in their promotion into National 2. The Level 4 coach is currently Deputy Head at Ballard school in New Milton.

New Milton RFC have just completed their first season in London SW3 in a creditable mid table position, and Dunn’s appointment is a statement of intent as they chase the title in 2014/15.

“I am delighted to be invited to join this progressive and forward looking club,” Dunn said. “The club has great potential and I am excited at the prospect of making a contribution to their continued progress both on and off the field. “This role will also give me an opportunity to develop closer links between the club, Ballard School and the local community.” New Milton President Robin Jackson added: “I whole-heartedly welcome David joining us.

“I am certain that in conjunction with Brendan Treacey, who has been our Head Coach for the past four years, together with the continued assistance of Rohan Thomas, Aiden Macallister and John Wood, we will have the strongest coaching team that the club has ever had and bodes well.”

The club currently has three Senior Sides, an occasional Vets team and one of the largest Colts, Junior & Mini Sections in the county. Treacey said: “We have seen the numbers of players increase dramatically this season, and we regularly exceed over 60 at training, even during the winter months. “The new floodlights and indoor training facility has certainly helped in achieving this.”

New Milton are looking to start their preseason training on July 8.

They train every Tuesday (which includes senior touch) and Thursdays from 7pm at their training ground in Ashley, New Milton.
