Hampshire are one of several sides heading into the final British Inter County Darts League weekend of the season with hopes of claiming a promotion place to the Premiership.

Cornwall, unbeaten all season, have already secured the title, and with it a place in the top tier of county darts, writes clive downton. However runners-up spot will also be good enough for a step up to the top league and that spot is currently held by Dorset who have a tough two days ahead of them at Cornwall, writes Clive Downton.

Lincolnshire are just four games adrift and are away to London while Devon have a realistic chance of promotion if they get a good win after a long trip to County Durham.

Hampshire are nine games off the second spot but a solid victory at Staffordshire, along with three bonus points, could still put them back in the Premiership, where they have spent the majority of the last two decades.

Experienced county player Nillson Pritchard has been drafted back into the Men’s B side for the vital clash.

Hampshire County Darts spokesman Frank Branscombe said: “They just have to go up there and get as many points as they can. They should do OK but it’s hard to predict.

“They need to put in one last effort and you never know, promotion could come out of it. At least a good win would put them back at the top of the table where they are used to being.”
