THERE was a record-breaking win for OTs & Romsey in the Southern Electric t20 Cup last weekend.

Their 94-run win over Trojans was as emphatic as the scoreline suggests, with the visitors bowled out for the lowest score in the history of the competition.

Trojans won the toss and decided to bowl, giving openers Charlie King and Paul Longland a chance to get Romsey off to a good start.

The pair put on 20 before Longland was run out for 15. King continued to bat on before he fell for 32 with the score at 65-2.

There were then quick scores of 16 and 13 for Ieuan Wathan and Will Edwards respectively before Gus Flack fell for just 4 runs.

With the score at 93-5, it was down to brothers Rob Newman and Pete Newman to guide Romsey to a good score. They managed it, with the pair hitting an unbeaten 55 run partnership, with Rob ending on 37* and Pete on 22*. This gave the hosts a final score of 148-5.

Trojans then came into bat but were blown away by Romsey’s bowling, with just one batsman managing to get into double figures.

Stuart Shapland picked up two early wickets before Rob Newman did the bulk of the damage, picking up a very impressive five wicket haul.

He ended with figures of 4-0-6-5 and there were also wickets for Jody Brown and Dan Mogg, as Romsey bowled out Trojans for just 54 in 16.2 overs.

The derby clash in Southern Electric Premier Division 2 between OTs & Romsey and Paultons was cancelled last Saturday.

However, play for OTs & Romsey’s second team went ahead and they grabbed their second win of the season in Hampshire Cricket League County Division Two by defeating Amport by 64 runs.

The visitors bowled first and managed to get Romsey’s openers up cheaply. Will Edwards then came in at number four to up the tempo of the innings.

He enjoyed a good partnership with Keith Trodd, before the latter fell for 30.

Edwards then went for an impressive 75, being bowled out by Leighton Bone.

Harry Tulk continued to tick the scoreboard over for Romsey, as he finished on 23* to help Romsey to a score of 209-9.

Amport, chasing 210 for the win, struggled to score any runs, with the Romsey bowlers restricting them well.

Ian Langdown scored 37 but his efforts were not enough as bowlers Phil Wyatt and Harry Tulk ripped through the visitors’ batting line-up.

Wyatt ended with figures of 4-29 and Tulk took 3-30 to bowl Amport out for 145 with seven overs to spare.
