Isabella Fraser-Corbridge and Kate Baxter were two Southampton Dolphins swimmers who impressed at the ASA South East Region Age Group Championships.
Fraser-Corbridge, 11, achieved personal bests and top eight positions in all seven of her races.
Starting each with an impressive butterfly display, Isabella was fourth in the 200m IM (2.44.79) and claimed a 10 second personal best in the 400m IM to finish sixth (5.54.72).
She finished seventh overall in the BAGCAT out of 58 swimmers in her age group.
Baxter starred in the 10-year-old girls’ age group, and achieved some impressive pbs.
She slashed 15 seconds off her 400m freestyle to win a bronze medal in 5.26.99.
Baxter was also fourth in both the 200m freestyle (2.33.22, pb) and 200m backstroke (2.54.65, pb).
She knocked seven seconds off her time for the 200m fly, finishing sixth (3.10.99), finishing eighth overall in the BAGCAT out of a 73 swimmers. Three other Dolphins achieved BAGCAT status.
Filip Fraczek-Krygier became regional champion in the boys’ 11yrs 200m freestyle, winning in 2.19.95 – just two seconds outside the 11/12yrs national qualifying time.
He is now ranked third in Britain in his age group for that stroke. He also secured a place in the 11/12 year olds boys’ final, the only 11-year-old to qualify.
Fraczek-Krygier secured top nine positions in all eight of his races, with great performances in the 1,500m freestyle (3rd, 20.35.58) 200m IM (3rd, 2.46.74) and 100m freestyle (4th, 1.06.38).
Overall, he finished third in the BAGCAT out of 64 swimmers.
Ben Sluman swam in his first regional competition, also in the 11-year-old age group.
He was 12th in the 100m freestyle (1.09.41,pb), and further pbs followed in the 200m freestyle (2.30.22) and 200m backstroke (2.49.75). He finished 22nd in the BAGCAT out of 64 swimmers.
Fae Thompson, 10, competing in her first regional competition, was ninth in the 200m fly (3.21.28) and 15th in the 200m freestyle (2.41.62). Achieving pbs in all her five races, she finished 25th in the BAGCAT out of 73 swimmers.
