Alresford professional Philip Bryden won a three-way play-off at Hockley to claim the 2014 Hampshire Open title.

Bryden triumphed against past champions James Ablett, of Lee-on-the-Solent, and Nick Redfern, representing the AIA Group.

The Alresford ace holed a three-foot par putt at the first sudden death hole to claim the trophy, as both Ablett and Redfern failed to make par.

All three men had finished on a three-over total of 145 for their 36 holes.

One shot back was Freshwater Bay's Brandon Thompson, who claimed the prize for leading amateur.

Stoneham's Joe Ellis was second in that category, on 150, while Brokenhurst Manor's Jordan Ainley and Corhampton's Sam Day, both on the same score, finished third and fourth respectively.
