Former Eastleigh captain has wasted no time in finding a new club and signed for Conference South side Chelmsford City.
The popular 34-year-old left the Spitfires last week, ending a two year spell at the Silverlake Stadium.
The midfielder tweeted that he was “absolutely gutted” to be leaving the club he led to the Skrill Conference South title last season.
Chelmsford manager Mark Hawkes said: “Glen is a great player, he knows how to win games and championships and has a vast amount of experience. Glen is a leader and a winner.”
Signed from Dover two summers ago by Ian Baird, Southam, right, blossomed under Richard Hill after being handed the captain’s armband.
He made such an impression during the 2012/13 campaign that he was awarded both the club’s player-of-the-year prizes and was named in the Conference South’s team-of-the-year.
