Three Hampshire stars are heading to Woodhall Spa this weekend for the County Champion of Champions showdown.

Billy Watson, Martin Young and Alan Mew will all be flying the flag at the England Golf headquarters.

The event sees the various county champions from around the nation – at boys’, men’s and seniors’ level – square off against each other.

North Hants ace Watson, who won Hampshire’s 2014 junior title at Royal Winchester, will get his bid under way on Saturday morning.

The boys will be followed by the seniors, with Stoneham’s Mew looking to reclaim the national crown he won in 2012.

Mew took this year’s Hampshire title with a fine performance at North Hants.

On Sunday, Brokenhurst Manor’s Young will look to continue his outstanding season when he tees it up in the men’s event.

The 44-year-old county champion, who completed a grand slam this season with victory in the Courage and Mid-Amateur, is one of 26 golfers looking to be crowned England’s best.
