Winchester need to get something out of their clash with London Cornish at North Walls tomorrow to prevent the pacesetters from creating an early gap.

Cornish sit on top of London 2 South-West after a couple of bonus point wins.

Winch lost their opening game at home to Totts, despite an impressive performance, and followed that up with a decisive victory at Tadley.

Coach Andy Fields has a strong squad to choose from, allowing him to make tactical changes.

He said: “We are expecting a tough test against title favourites London Cornish. We showed glimpses of our attacking potential last week against Tadley, but also defended poorly at times.

“We will need to improve both facets if we are to get something.”

Tottonians go into the unknown when they travel to Surrey to face Warlingham RFC who moved across to SW2 this season.

‘Mighty Warl’, as they are known by their fans, started with a home defeat to Old Reigatian but bounced back with a win at Old Alleynians.

However, that is unlikely to faze Totts, whose miserly defence has given away just eight points in their opening two games and are second highest points scorers.

Gareth Allen misses the match because of a calf injury while back Scott Rogers is unavailable.

New signing Bart van Herwijnen makes a start, along with winger Faisil Mutiti, while Bryn Marshall and Joe Searle are named as replacements, along with Nick Wood.

Coach Gavin Williams said: “We do not know an awful lot about them, apart from that they struggled in their league last year.

“We’ll treat them with respect, but we are confident if we play well that we are a match for anybody.”
