There was plenty of local interest during the opening ceremony of both the World Senior and Youth 21 Boat Championships at Weymouth over the weekend.
Southampton’s Ray Barron and Colin Searles, along with Mark Smith, from the Isle of Wight, and Portsmouth’s Cliff Newbold are members of the five-strong England senior team, while 19-year-year old George Fox from Poole gains his first ever England cap in the Youth 21 category.
The week-long event concludes tomorrow evening when Daily Echo sea angling correspondent Chris Clark will be making the final closing speech on behalf of the Angling Trust.
