Tottonians plan to keep their impressive start to the season on track with a successful trip to Old Alleynians.

Totts sit on top of London 2 South-West with a 100 per cent record after six games.

They are the league’s top scorers but have an even more impressive defensive record, conceding an average of less than ten points a match.

And they can also boast being the only Hampshire club in the London Leagues to stay unbeaten this season.

However, Alleynians have bounced back from losing their opening three matches to record decent victories in their last three games.

Experienced Richard Buck moves to fly half for Totts, while James Gay takes the place of injured Nick Wood and Liam Hurst moves to the bench along with Jon Wilton who has been shining for the twos and Thomas Barnes.

Totts’ coach Gavin Williams said: “We know Old Alleynians have a very strong back line and are a good team from all accounts.

“We know it’s going to be tough but we beat them home and away last year and we are not going there for damage limitation, we want the win.”

Winchester go into the long trip to Warlingham with their tails up after three consecutive wins.

However, head coach Andy Fields still thinks the team will need to improve considerably if they are to remain in the top three.

He said: “While parts of our attacking play are very good, the defence still needs to tighten up.”

Openside Zach Kinnaird has been outstanding for Winch but he could be out for a couple of weeks with a knee injury. Chris Keegan is likely to move across from blindside to cover.

The backline looks more settled, with Frank Bagnall growing into his new role at 12. Fields also hopes to have veteran second row Campbell Ettinger available for selection.

Portsmouth can move away from the relegation area – they are at home to Weybridge, who sit one place below them, third from bottom.
