Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry has joined the Perth Scorchers for the next KFC Big Bash season.

Carberry was Hampshire’s second-highest runs-scorer in the 2014 NatWest T20 Blast campaign as the club reached their fifth consecutive T20 Finals Day.

The 34-year old joins the reigning BBL champions alongside experienced all-rounder Yasir Arafat, who will be featuring for Hampshire in one-day cricket next year.

Australian batsman Adam Voges, who played seven times for Hampshire in 2007, will captain the side with former Elite International Cricket Academy pair Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar also part of the squad.

Hampshire director of cricket, Giles White said: “He’s been outstanding for the last two of three years in T20 cricket, setting us up well early on in our innings and he’s played a big part in our success in the shorter format.

“It’s an exciting competition and exciting times for Carbs. He’s been working hard in the nets already so he will be ready to go when he starts.”

The Perth Scorchers begin their next BBL campaign with a home match against the Adelaide Strikers on 22 December.
