JAMES Vince broke a double-century partnership with his first first-class wicket for the England Lions - but South Africa A are in charge of the second ‘Test’.

Hampshire star Vince, who made 31 as the Lions were bowled out for 260 after winning the toss, broke a fourth-wicket stand of 210 when he dismissed Test batsman Temba Bavuma.

South Africa A pair Theunis de Bruyn (161) and Bavuma (102) had put their side in a dominant position by the time Vince made the breakthrough with his part-time medium pace.

Vince struck with the first ball of his fourth over, a wicket maiden, when Adil Rashid caught Bavuma, who made two Test appearances during South Africa’s recent series success against the West Indies.

The wicket was Vince’s second for the Lions but first in a first-class match and came midway through a tidy three-over spell (1-7) in Bloemfontein.

He finished with a respectable 1-38 from nine overs after being hit out of the attack by De Bruyn.

South Africa A closed the second day on 389-7, a lead of 129, with Warwickshire’s Boyd Rankin (3-61) and Durham’s Mark Wood (2-83) the pick of the Lions’ attack.
