The Ageas Bowl is to become the home of Hedge End Running Club as part of Hampshire Cricket in the Community’s aim to promote healthy living.

Established in November 2012 with the support of Wildern School, Hedge End Running Club now boastsmore than 250 members who train and race regularly.

Hampshire Cricket in the Community Manager, Greig Stewart, said: “We are delighted to welcome HedgeEnd Running Club to the Ageas Bowl and are excited about supporting the club’s future development.

"Sport has the power to unite communities and our partnership with Hedge End Running Club will further establish the Ageas Bowl as a hub for both elite and recreational sport.”

Alongside its unprecedented growth in membership over the past two years, the Club has recently set up a triathlon section and is planning to extend participation to under-18s.

Chair of Hedge End Running Club, Cliff Manton is confident the move to the home of Hampshire Cricket will help increase the membership.

“It’s a hugely exciting time in the club’s development," he said. "Moving to the Ageas Bowl gives us an opportunity to expand provision for runners of all ages and create a running club like no other.

"We are extremely grateful to everyone involved for making this happen and look forward to working closely together in the future.”
