Liz Young is set to begin her Ladies European Tour season this week – as she looks to build on a wonderful 2014 campaign.

The Brokenhurst Manor ace finished last year in 20th position on the order of merit, which not only represented her best ever result, but also marked her out as one of the top players in the professional ladies’ game.

Young is heading into her seventh season on Tour now, and is due to start her latest tilt at this week’s New Zealand Women’s Open.

Her aim at the start of 2014 had been to break into the top 20 in the order of merit and, having achieved that, she is now focused on getting her first ever victory as a professional.

“Next season I’m wanting to win, and finish in the top ten in the order of merit,” she told the Daily Echo after the conclusion of last term.

The 32-year-old has been focusing a lot on improving her putting over the winter, and she will hope that pays dividends early on in the year.

This week’s tournament will be followed by the World Ladies Championship, at Mission Hills Golf Club, in China, beginning March 12.

On the men’s European Tour, Hampshire duo Richard Bland and Sam Hutsby are also in action this week.

The pair will be teeing it up at the Joburg Open, as the circuit begins its South Africa swing.
