Winchester City Penguins youth swimmers followed the success of the club’s age group swimmers at the Hampshire County Youth and Open Championships in Portsmouth.

Twenty swimmers achieved qualifying times, between them clocking up more than 60 personal bests and taking home 26 medals.

Three girls won double silver – Rebecca Lin in the girls open 200m and 400m individual medleys, Natasha Bocchetta for girls age 15 200m and 400m freestyle and Georgina Butler in the girls junior and open 50m freestyle.

Isabella Talbot improved on her fourth place in the heats of the girls open 100m butterfly to win bronze.

Sam Rhodes and Natasha Bocchetta each took double bronze in the age 15 junior boys and girls 100m butterfly respectively, with Rhodes bagging additional double bronze in the 50m butterfly for the same categories.

Harry Badnell took double bronze in the boys age 15 and junior 200 backstroke, and further bronzes went to Rebecca Lin in the girls open 200m breaststroke, Matt Newell in the boys age 15 50m breaststroke and Georgina Butler in the girls open 100m freestyle.

The junior boys relay team of Harry Badnell, Matt Newell, Sam Rhodes and Dan Woodland won bronze in the 200m medley relay.

The junior girls – Georgina Butler, Madison Stepney, Carys Ladd and Natasha Bocchetta – won 200m freestyle relay bronze.
